- Hemorrhoids (Piles)
- SYMPTOMS. If hemorrhoids are outside the rectum there may be mild itching
- and some discomfort during defecation. If they are inside the rectum there
- may be bleeding, painful defecation and rectal fullness.
- CAUSES. They are enlarged varicose veins that are located in the rectal
- area. The enlarged veins may be caused by chronic coughing or sneezing,
- abdominal tumors, constipation and straining at stool, obesity or pregnancy.
- TREATMENT. Medicated ointment or suppositories may be prescribed.
- .Heat applications, cold compress and sitting in a warm bath may help.
- .If hemorrhoids are severe surgery may be required.
